Since 1989, Sentry Doors has been manufacturing high quality, bespoke timber fire and security door-sets. We operate from a 33,000 sq.ft purpose-built manufacturing facility in Doncaster, with an ongoing investment programme to meet our growing demand.

The business became part of the Cairngorm Capital portfolio in February 2019, reflecting a desire for investment. We have doubled our turnover from 2020 to 2021 with strong growth continuing into 2022 while being led by our established management team of MD Ty Aziz and chairman, Jon Gatfield.

Sentry Doors works with the social housing, public sector, commercial and residential markets. Customers include London Boroughs such as Camden, Islington, Westminster and Barnet via well-known contractors such as Morgan Sindall, Mila Maintenance, Mullally’s and Breyer. Our customers work programmes extend many years into the future as they seek to replace existing non-compliant fire doors in their housing stock.

Job description

TECHNICAL SALES & ESTIMATOR

Sentry Doors is seeking a Technical Sales & Estimator to join a dynamic Internal Sales and Technical team. A key part of the overall sales and marketing function, you will be responsible for processing quotations and tenders, key account management, internal sales and customer service. You will work closely with the business development team and marketing team to deliver key sales KPI’s and ensure high levels of customer service.

The role is varied and will best suit someone who has previous experience in a sales and estimating role and with strong communication and sales skills ideally with experience selling a technical product.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyse customer enquiries ensuring prompt and accurate quote generation, regularly liaising with the customer and relaying information across planning, sales and purchasing
  • Submitting tenders
  • Customer account management
  • Creation of accurate manufacturing Jobcards
  • Customer liaison and communication, pre & post sales
  • Technical support to customers and the business
  • Liaison with purchasing including costs analysis
  • Identify & log new orders on production plan
  • Adhere to and meet all project deadlines and work to sales KPI’s

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a sales role/key account management
  • Previous experience producing quotations
  • Demonstrable experience of working to a high level of detail
  • Good level of GCSE/A Level education (or Equivalent)

Finance Assistant

Business Development Manager

The Company

Our customers work programmes extend many years into the future as they seek to replace existing non-compliant fire doors in their housing stock.

We enjoy strong reputation for manufacturing products that meet the most rigorous quality and fire certification standards such as BM Trada’s Q Mark and Secure by Design. Primary testing – typically to ensure door-sets are robust for thirty to sixty minutes – is central to our ability to secure contracts with existing customers and new customers. Their service performance is equally impressive with the company consistently delivering on time in full on a 6 to 8 week lead time.

Having doubled our turnover from 2020 to 2021 with strong growth continuing into 2022 we are continuing our investment programme in people and expertise to deliver our ambitious programme of expansion. We have recently strengthened the team with a Sales & Marketing Director and marketing function.

The Role

Concentrating on defined geographies (Greater London; the West & Wales & The Midlands), the additional team members will:

  • Work with an allocated sales pipeline of key decision-makers and influencers in housing associations, local authorities and their supply chain contractors
  • Adopt a structured approach to converting new leads to sales
  • Introduce Sentry via calling and other contact methods including professional networking events
  • Showcase Sentry Doors’ customer proposition to new leads
  • Network through the customer base to establish the key contacts and projects available to Sentry
  • Assess and validate sales opportunities to assess their suitability for our customer proposition
  • Ensure that Sentry Doors is represented to secure opportunities on relevant procurement frameworks and portals
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with customers to maximise our share of wallet
  • Work with colleagues across the business to complete RFPs, tenders and quotations to meet our customer’s expectations
  • Update and maintain the sales database, funnels and CRM systems for accurate reporting (Monday.com)
  • Work closely with the internal sales and estimating team to ensure optimum focus on the conversion of the pipeline
  • Support customers with on-site technical queries for quick resolutions
  • Provide technical and product expertise at the highest levels to secure sales supported by internal sales and customer service representatives

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable success and experience of working with Housing Associations and Local Authorities and securing business through the contractor network.
  • Comfortable with RFP’s, tenders and framework agreements
  • Strong track record of working with technical construction products
  • Safety background – an advantage
  • Passive fire protection – preferred
  • Bespoke Fire doors – ideal
  • Existing network of contacts in Housing Associations, Local Authorities and main contractors
  • Outstanding communication – written and verbal including presentation skills
  • A natural networker with the skills and tenacity to reach the key decision makers
  • Long-term relationship builder that becomes the customers trusted advisor
  • A strong desire to learn and understand fire doors and the Sentry Doors proposition
  • Ideally located in the chosen geography and/or willing to spend most of the week ‘on the road’ in those geographies
  • Substantial track record of beating targets as a new business development professional
  • Positive, enthusiastic and a strong team player that values the internal support network
  • Confident in selling premium products with competitive advantages
  • Formal sales training such as Achieve Global Sales effectiveness
