At Sentry Doors, we are committed to resident safety. With a combined heritage of over 130 years, we are the supplier of choice for housing associations, local authorities, and their contractors. We have extensive experience supplying bespoke, fully compliant fire doorsets to a range of projects across the UK from high-rise residential buildings to sheltered housing schemes.
The Fire Safety Act 2021 forms part of the government’s response to the Grenfell tragedy, altering previous laws to ensure that all aspects of a shared building are fully tested for fire safety. As part of this, the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, which became effective January 2023, is designed to improve fire safety in multi-occupied residential buildings. They require responsible persons to undertake regular checks of fire doors to ensure that they are in good working order and compliant. Whether you are a housing association, local authority or fire door installer, these changes affect you. At Sentry, we recognise that having a fire door supplier you can trust is absolutely essential, particularly in a time of changing legislation and new regulations. That’s why we work closely with our clients to provide compliance and technical support, whilst guiding you through fire door procurement from start to finish with our dedicated account managers.
We are one of the few companies nationally to have achieved dual certification Q-Mark Fire Door Manufacture and Q-Mark Enhanced Security for both our FD30s and FD60s flat entrance door sets. To provide the highest standards of safety and security, all our doorsets are tested and approved in accordance with PAS 24:2016 and Secured by Design (SBD), whilst complying to ISO 9001 to ensure we are consistent in how we do this. Our doorsets also undergo primary testing to ensure they can withstand real world environments and outperform minimum requirements.
There is no one working in the social housing sector today who does not recognise the crucial importance of working with a fire safety door supplier who can get the right results, first time. Having confidence in your supplier and their processes is critical, and following the 23 rd January 2023 changes, it is more important than ever to ensure your supply chain is performing as required by the new legislation.
In the aftermath of the Grenfell tower fire, the independent Hackitt report recommended the implementation of a golden thread to maintain fire safety in residential buildings. This golden thread was further included within the Building Safety Bill, brought to parliament in an effort to ensure the safety of buildings both old and new.
We have recently launched a golden thread solution for all our Internal Flat Entrance, External UKCA Flat Entrance and Internal Communal fire doors, partnering with leading fire door compliance solutions Door Data Systems to install a data tag within each door during manufacture. This means that every fire door produced by Sentry Doors will have a permanent digital record, easily accessed via an app. This full record of manufacture, installation, and maintenance will follow a fire door through its lifespan, ensuring that the accountable person within a building has easy access to the golden thread, and will be able to update it with any vital information as needed.
We consider our customers as partners and work closely with them from start to finish to provide confidence in fire door procurement. This reputation for reliability teamed with over 130 years of manufacturing excellence, is what makes us the secure choice for fire safety. Our long-standing partners include some of the UK’s largest contractors, housing associations and local authorities, who appreciate our commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability.
