What Are the Rules for FD60 Door Frames?
FD60 door frames must meet minimum density standards. For hardwood, this is 640kg/m3, while MDF requires a minimum density of 700kg/m3. The frames must measure 70x32mm at a minimum. They must also feature a 12mm rebate or planted stop. The frames must have no gaps, and double doors may be scalloped or square.
Do I Need an FD30 or FD60?
Whether you need an FD30 or FD60 fire door will depend on your needs. As a general rule of thumb, FD30s tend to be installed in buildings where quick evacuations are possible, such as in smaller office blocks or residential buildings, while FD60s are required by larger buildings such as tall blocks of flats or office blocks.
