Hospital doors, otherwise known as leaf and a half, are doors with a very particular structure. The larger leaf (main leaf) is used to control the traffic flow of us, whereas the smaller leaf (slave leaf) is located on the passive side of the opening and is often kept closed. When larger objects, such as hospital beds, require access, both doors can be opened.
Hospital doors are typically used in buildings where a wide opening is required, but the use of a traditional double door is unfavourable due to space constraints or other considerations – making them the ideal choice for hospitals.
