Who are Southern Fire Door Solutions? 

Southern Fire Door Solutions are a BM TRADA certified contractor, located in the South of England, who specialise in the installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire doors.  

The project

Southern Fire Door Solutions (SFDS) recently carried out a replacement project on a block of flats in Folkstone, Kent. They were tasked with replacing all flat entrance and communal doorsets to provide better safety and security for residents.  

SFDS chose Sentry Doors as their supplier of choice for this project. The project consisted of the replacement of 28 doorsets, including single Q-Mark Internal Flat Entrance and single and double Q-Mark Internal Communal entrance doorsets, with a range of single and double sidelights.  

The project also included other replacement work such as new architraves, skirting and erecting of wall studs to ensure the new entrances to residents’ homes were secure. Some of the existing doors were made up of a continuous frame where the entrance was joined to the riser cupboard, which therefore gave SFDS the task of separating the flat from the riser cupboard by removing the frame and erecting a new stud wall which now separates the flats from the cupboards.  

Despite this added element to the project, with the efficiency of the team and Sentry’s ability to meet SFDS’s schedule of works on time, the team was able to complete the project ahead of schedule, reducing the project duration to just 4 weeks.
